Waste to Taste

Burrito Brigade’s Waste to Taste project works with local grocery stores, bakeries, restaurants, and farms to rescue surplus food and make it available to the community. Participants are empowered to choose the foods they need and want, promoting dignity, reducing waste, and accommodating specific dietary needs. Waste to Taste offers a flexible, community-centered alternative to pre-packed food boxes, with a variety of fresh, frozen, and shelf-stable options. At Burrito Brigade, we believe food is a human right.

Big things are happening at Burrito Brigade — and we need your help.

Every week, we rescue and share thousands of pounds of food through programs like Weekend Burrito Brigade, Waste to Taste, and Little Free Pantries. With more neighbors relying on us, your support helps us:

  • 🥕 Rescue and store more surplus food

  • 🛒 Expand access to free groceries

  • 💛 Keep community programs running

  • 🍽️ Put more good food on people’s tables

Food insecurity and food waste are solvable — and together, we’re proving it.

How the Appointment System Works

Visits are by appointment only to ensure all shoppers can access food easily and with dignity—without spending hours in line.

  • The Calendly calendar opens every other Sunday at 6 PM for the following two weeks.
  • Each household may schedule 1 appointment every other week (maximum 2 per month).
  • Select the foods your household prefers; every visit is a self-choice experience.
  • No proof of income or hardship is required.

Why we use appointments:

  • 🕒 Save you time – No long waits or wasted trips if food runs out.
  • 🚗 Keep things running smoothly – Helps manage visitor flow so everyone has a comfortable visit, while accounting for the limited parking available.
  • 🥕 Ensure fairness and dignity – Each guest gets a calm, respectful experience—no rushing, no chaos, just access to good food.
