EUGENE, Ore. — A local group of volunteers is being highlighted in Eating Well Magazine for work they’re doing in Eugene to feed the homeless.
These volunteers get together once a week at the First Christian Church in downtown Eugene and make burritos all morning, and then hit the streets and hand them out in the evening.
“We use about 40 pounds of beans and 15 pounds of rice and then between 50 to 80 pounds of produce depending on what we get donated,” said Jennifer Riehl, treasurer for the Burrito Brigade.
Riehl says not only have they been featured in Eating Well Magazine but an organization in New York has also contacted them hoping to do something similar.
If you’d like to get involved with what they’re doing, you can find more information on the Burrito Brigade’s Facebook or their website, burrito-brigade.org.
