BITE OF BURRITO BRIGADE FUNDRAISER WILL FEATURE
THE ORGANIZATION’S DELICIOUS VEGAN BURRITOS

EUGENE, Ore. – Bite of Burrito Brigade, a festive benefit for the grassroots organization that serves nutritious vegan meals to our community’s hungry, will be held on Friday, June 2, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the downtown location of Off the Waffle, 840 Willamette St., Eugene. For just $5, guests can taste Burrito Brigade’s signature delicious vegan burritos, which will also be available as a bowl (gluten free).  A tasty vegan dessert will also be available. The event this year coincides with Eugene’s First Friday Art Walk and will include beer or wine for purchase,  live music by Chico Schwall, a silent auction, raffle, and T-shirt sales. Stop by and have a bite to eat while checking out art from New Zone artist Marjorie Templeton.

Burrito Brigade has provided nutritious vegan meals to hungry individuals in Eugene and Springfield for over three years. Relying on a network of volunteers, individual donors and nonprofit partners, Burrito Brigade targets our community’s two most food-insecure days: Saturday and Sunday. Volunteers gather on Saturdays at Bethesda Lutheran Church (4445 Royal Ave, Eugene) and on Sundays in the kitchen of First Christian Church (1166 Oak St, Eugene) to prepare and assemble tasty vegan burritos, sloppy joe pitas, or breakfast burritos and then deliver meals directly to the hungry via foot, bike and automobile. The organization has served over 80,000 meals lifetime to date! Find more details and a list of regularly needed produce and supplies at burritobrigade.org and on the organization’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/BurritoBrigade.

Chris Calise, one of the co-founders of Eugene Foodies and an early Burrito Brigade sponsor noted: “Kathy and I were intrigued by a small group of folks making a difference to help feed the hungry out of an old house in the Whit and it reminded me of my own youthful years of political activism and cooking for hundreds of hungry folks. This is how true service to the community is done.” The organization has come a long way since then, thanks to the fantastic support of the community.

Financial donations may be made via Paypal using burritosundays@gmail.com. Burrito Brigade is a 501 c3 nonprofit.
